How will you make an impact?
As a Field Service Engineer you are responsible for managing all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and applications of isotope ratio mass spectrometry. Services provided include installation, corrective and preventative maintenance. Products include Thermo Fisher IRMS instruments Delta V, MAT 253 Plus, and a variety of peripheral instruments employing continuous flow and Dual Inlet applications.
What will you do?
Install and repair the Thermo Fisher Scientific line of isotope ratio mass spectrometers and the peripheral instrumentation associated with those instruments including GC, EA, ConFlo, Gas Bench, autosamplers, and more.
Ensure customer satisfaction through excellence in repair and support of customers' products.
Maintain communication with customer to ensure understanding of status, cost, and scheduling of all aspects of the service event.
Provide rapid, courteous, and knowledgeable response to all customers' inquiries.
Schedule and deliver thorough preventative maintenance service to ensure maximum uptime of customer equipment.
Serve as customer advocate and manages escalation of unresolved customer or technical issues to Management, Service Product Specialists, and Quality.
Provide customer product operation training and technical support to in-house repair technicians as required.
Submit accurate and detailed service orders, time sheets, expense reports, and quality feedback in a timely manner and maintains records per organizational policy.
Adhere to all corporate and service division policies regarding safe work practices and service vehicle operation.
Provide territory cross-coverage and depot repair support as required.
Support the Quality System and Quality Policy by following procedures/work instructions and creating records to meet the requirements of the Quality System Regulation and ISO registration.
Assist Accounts Receivable Department in collecting past due invoices.
Maintain spare parts inventory, tools, manuals and test equipment.
Attend new product technical and introduction training, advanced and update training, and regional/national service meetings as required
Actively promote and sell Thermo Fisher Scientific installations, extended service contracts, preventative maintenance, time & material service, service parts kits and consumables, service training, validation, and wireless monitoring services.
Advise customer of new products and upgrades and passes sales opportunities to account representatives.
Partner with account representative to conduct joint safety inspections and product shows.
Support area trade shows by providing set-up and tear-down support when required.
How will you get here?
BS degree in Physical Sciences, Electronics or equivalent experience.
Background in Chemistry, Earth Sciences, or Geochemistry preferred
- 5+ years of Field Service or relevant Industry experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
An understanding of PCs, Windows, Microsoft Office, and IsoDat (preferred)
Familiarity with the peripherals and applications related to stable isotope analysis
Must have valid driver license
Must have a record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on state Motor Vehicle Records, and must not have a current license suspension or revocation.
Domestic travel up to 75%
You must live close to an airport serving commercial airlines.
Ability to work overtime and/or outside regular business hours, and/or on-call work
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move 100+ pounds
