WSP is currently looking for a Construction Services Intern for our Chicago, IL office for the Summer of 2019.

This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards a Civil Engineering Degree within an accredited program. The candidate will gain experience in our Construction Services group under direct supervision of the firm's leading engineering professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in field inspection and organize office documentation for transit and transportation construction projects

  • Perform basic calculations and functions

  • Document research and field investigation

  • Assist developing and writing reports

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current, active enrollment in an ABET-accredited institution pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely-related field. NOTE: This role is for students who are entering the Sophomore, Junior or Senior year of college. Those who have already graduated from an Undergraduate program are ineligible for this or any of our Intern positions.

  • Completion of at least 60 credit hours of relevant academic coursework.

  • A demonstrated interest in a related discipline (e.g. student organization involvement, relevant project experience).

  • Previous internship experience related to this role is a definite advantage!

  • Must possess an interest in transit & rail related projects and systems

  • Must be flexible to participate in field inspection work

  • Experience with basic computer software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members

  • Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considering local candidates only.

  • Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD, InRoads, OpenRoads, Civil 3D and CADD software
