Google Category Enablement Lead, Procurement in Chicago, Illinois

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience with program management or strategy consulting.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in a procurement function including category and/or supplier management, contracting, pricing models, etc.

  • Demonstrated personal accountability and integrity, and an ability to build strong, productive relationships with senior leaders across the business

  • Analytical and problem solving skills with capability to process data to drive business strategies and decisions. Aptitude for strategic thinking and a focus on quantitative impacts.

  • Ability to consult, influence, and manage stakeholder and to drive efforts/projects through relationships and a broad knowledge base.

  • Ability to thrive as part of a global team.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, stakeholder management and verbal/written communication skills.

In this context, the Category team plays a pivotal role between the GPO capabilities and whom we service. Leads and their teams are the Google experts in a category of spend and stewards of the best buying experience balancing price, responsibility and quality, and the most innovative solutions. These goals must be achieved while continuously executing on our transformation roadmap and contributing to many exciting projects that will lay the foundation of the future of procurement at Google. We prioritize getting things done, building strong relationships, maintaining airtight project management, and sharing polished communications.

In this role you will own multiple areas (i.e., strategy to execution planning and operationalization, operating models and joint initiatives at the boundary with other GPO constituents, and ecosystem, and day-to-day business management).

  • Work with Category leads to deliver a consistent and coherent set of strategies with the operating model that will help execute on them and partner with other functions inside and outside GPO to help deliver outcomes to our business stakeholders.

  • Support the elaboration of strategic roadmaps for other GPO functions interfacing with Categories ; help prioritize and solve for roadblocks and develop approaches and support one-off / special projects as needed for our senior leadership.

  • Participate in GPO planning and programs in partnership with internal stakeholders, and external 3rd parties.

  • Design processes enabling management of our operations and senior leadership reporting ; establish a cadence and run them effectively and efficiently

  • Support summits / events planning and execution, GPO and broader Google-wide comms from a Category perspective, etc.
