Methode Electronics is seeking a BI DevOps Engineer responsible for supporting our global Business Intelligence department based in Chicago IL. In this role, you will deliver end-to-end Business Intelligence solutions from infrastructure through finished product. Help us build and support a highly scalable and maintainable infrastructure where you will work cross-functionally to help create and support local environments, design, build and automate infrastructure and deployment pipelines, and monitor production environments. Ultimately, you will execute and automate operational processes fast, accurately and securely.

  • Deploy and manage a global BI Linux environment

  • Infrastructure component buildout/maintenance of Linux system involving SQL database

  • Maintain the security of the Linux environment though patching and best practices

  • Optimize and maintain a MySQL database environment utilizing best practices

  • Maintain backups of the Linux and SQL environment

  • Integrate our ERP systems (primarily Epicor CMS) into the BI environment

  • Design, build and automate the mining scripts that import data from ERP

  • Implement basic and statistical knowledge in mining scripts to detect data mining errors

  • Work with the users to design and build a presentation layer for analyzed data

  • Design and build automated code deployment systems to simplify development while ensuring more consistent and predictable work

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years experience in a like role

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging your deep understanding of Linux systems, data structures, modern scripting and enterprise level languages as well as open source tools to solve problems

  • Ability to quickly understand needs, from a user perspective, and move into a working prototype capturing the product essence

  • Must be able to code/configure tools, and, assemble/integrate technology across disparate platforms

  • Ability to write clean, clear and modular code

  • Extensive knowledge in scripting languages (Perl, Python), SQL queries and database administration

  • Experience administering a Linux environment (RHEL or CentOS preferred)

  • Working knowledge of SVN

  • Able to read/understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides

  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional team

  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills with experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Ability to understand organizational goals and objectives

  • Self-motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong customer-service orientation

  • DB2 Database knowledge a plus

  • ERP knowledge a plus

  • Salesforce developer experience a plus

  • Web development experience a plus

  • Occasional on-call availability

  • Up to 5% travel
