Who You’ll Be Working With:

This role will report directly to the Managing Director, Domain Technical Lead, Claims Operations and provide the vital link between business and technical functions to ensure our claim operation strategy is infused into the entire solution lifecycle, from requirements gathering through design, testing, deployment and adoption. The claim domain consists of several key areas of EHS operations (Claims, Configuration, Provider Data Management, Payment Integrity, Authorizations and Encounters). As a Process Improvement Manager, this individual will lead documentation of end to end operational and technical process solutions and help streamline processes as part of implementation delivery and product strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing:

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Director, Process Improvement. The individual will support our Domain Technical Solutions Leadership team within Claims Operations by solving complex business problem utilizing proven process improvement, design thinking, and innovation methodologies. The individual will be responsible for conducting analyses, identifying areas of opportunity, and providing recommendations to the organization.

20% travel required to Chicago, IL office


  • Lead continuous improvement engagements utilizing continuous improvement methodologies (ie Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, and Kaizen tools)

  • Facilitate teams in development of current and future state process processes and maps

  • Identify opportunities and develop recommendations for process improvements

  • Document quantifiable benefits for improvement projects

  • Conduct data and statistical analyses to quantify return on investment

  • Lead analysis of alternatives (AoA) exercises

  • Develop process maps using Visio or other tools

  • Develop executive summary of findings and recommendations and brief executive leaders

  • Collaborate with senior level personnel and provide leadership to internal stakeholders regarding best business practices and continuous process improvement

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

The Experience You’ll Need (Required):

  • Bachelors degree in business, healthcare or equivalent

  • 5 years of experience in process improvement work utilizing continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) in a healthcare setting

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (ie Six Sigma Green or Black Belt)

  • Experience with data and statistical analysis

  • Strong project management experience

  • Ability to execute concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work on a team or independently while establishing strong working relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking, written and oral communication, and organizational skills

  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel

Finishing Touches (Preferred):

  • Knowledge and understanding of health plans

  • Experience with and knowledge of design thinking principles and concepts

  • Background in industrial engineering

  • Project management certification

  • Experience working with and scaling projects to offshore operations and technical teams

Technical requirements:

Currently, Evolent employees work remotely temporarily due to COVID-19. As such, we require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 MBPS and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.
