The Airport Operations department keeps operations at our airports running smoothly through planning, organization and supervision.

Job overview and responsibilities

The purpose of the Assistant Manager Aircraft MoveTeam is to maintain MoveTeam policy and procedures across United’s 7 Hubs. The Assistant Manager will monitor industry changes for MoveTeam Program enhancements as it relates to safety and the daily operation.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on safety, policy and procedures for all aircraft towing

  • Conduct SMS studies to address city safety concerns in all Hub Locations

  • Act as SME and participate in Aircraft MoveTeam training and implementation

  • Monitor monthly move activity and operational effectiveness to maximize city specific programs

  • Work with various departments to manage the Towbarless Tractor fleet

  • Change Management - develop specific protocols to integrate MoveTeam processes and procedures to facilitate SOC move demand

  • Assess and delegate the appropriate operational towing procedures to field management

  • Maintain MoveTeam Training & Aircraft Towing Manual to FAA and Airport Operator rules and regulations compliance

  • Ensure MoveTeams operate in compliance with training and towing manual guidance


  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business, Technology, Engineering, or similar or equivalent work experience

  • Airport Operations Ramp Service and MoveTeam experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and ACCESS

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Skilled in Interdepartmental procedural integrations

  • Strong knowledge in FAA and Airport ground traffic processes

  • 2-4 years of aircraft towing experience

  • Supervisory or Management experience

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • 3 years in a leadership role
