  • Performs finish and rough carpentry services in the construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of buildings. Performs concrete work such as forming, altering and repairing sidewalks, pads for equipment, stairways and curbing. Installs furnishings, fixtures and carpentry materials in renovation, repair, construction and building maintenance. Repairs items constructed of wood, performs roofing repairs and lays decking. Assembles pre-manufactured furniture. Operates and maintains wood-working, metal-working and other carpentry tools and machinery. Takes required precautions when working with hazardous chemicals, materials and power equipment. Maintains appropriate appearance and good hygiene with workmen type clothing and wearing hospital's identification badge at all times. Assists with general maintenance activities as directed. Essential Functions and Duties: Repairs or replaces windows, doors, ceilings and floor tile plus various wall coverings. Correctly and safely operates tools such as table saw, mortise, drill press, circular saw, belt sander, and router. Performs a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul, and construction duties in all hospital buildings. Position Qualifications: · High School diploma or equivalent. · Successful completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or 3 years related field experience. · Have a working knowledge of blueprints and drawings used to construct and repair building structure. Preferred Skills and Abilities: · Work with blueprints and sketches · Repair/replaces flashing Physical Demands: · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. · Positions in this classification may have various lifting requirements up to 100 pounds and require the ability to bend, stoop and twist. · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Function--Duties and Responsibilities: · Install glass in windows, doors and partitions; replace damaged ceiling and floor tile and other damaged equipment. · Operate woodworking equipment and machines to saw, plane, drill or mortise lumber for doors, cabinets, shelves, molding and related fixtures; cut mortises for locks and hinges; hang doors. · Estimate amount of required material and supplies for projects; select the type of lumber and material necessary. · Painting, finishing and Trim · Tile work · Install all dust, safety and security protections before any work is started on the project. · Install and repair doors and hardware · Install acoustical ceilings · Maintain key control system · Replace lock cylinders and cut keys
