Prince Industries CNC Setup Machinist - 1st Shift in Carol Stream, Illinois
JOB SUMMARY
Prince Industries is looking for a CNC Setup Machinist in our FMS (Flexible Machining System) Department on 1st Shift (6am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday). This position operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, secondary equipment and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine setup, operation and startup; adjusts tooling to maintain proper sizes, replaces broken or worn tooling.
Verify conformance of work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges.
Ability to read blueprints.
Visually and dimensionally inspects production parts for any defects and report defects to immediate supervisor.
Reads and interprets job travelers.
Secures all tooling and instruments required; Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
Observes daily preventative machine maintenance: proper coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleans machines, etc.
Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools, etc.
Completes necessary job related paperwork to include tags, inspection documents, and production log.
Transports finished materials, manually or using pallet jack.
Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned
Works effectively with all department personnel and co-workers in a harmonious and cooperative manner to meet the needs and goals established by the company.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor; may include department transfers to meet production needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Machines: HAAS and Mazak.
Ability to quickly use the control panel to do offsets and edits on 2-3 of the above mentioned machines.
Minimum of 3 years of experience on the above mentioned machines.
Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.
Tolerance: Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005? for diameter and +/- 0.001? for length.
High school diploma or GED
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers as needed.
Ability to comprehend and follow simple oral or written instructions.
Ability to perform intermediate shop math skills and calculations: fraction conversions, divide, multiply, percentages, etc.
Basic computer skills required in order to perform inquiry, data collection or input.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within production field.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
Frequently required to talk or hear.
Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
Regularly lift, push or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required..
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, in which hearing protection is required.
