We are seeking a Full-Time Service Technician / Diesel Mechanic for heavy equipment in our Aurora, IL location. This individual will provide exceptional customer service in the dealership through accurate inspections for defects and equipment diagnoses, and perform necessary services.Mechanical design and fabrication is strongly preferred.Responsibilities Include:• Service, repair, assemble, and recondition equipment as assigned by the Service Manager• Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed• Perform any inspections as required• Keep accurate, easy-to-read records of work performed• Maintain safe work habits• Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines and equipment• Suggest any additional repairs needed to service manager and/or customer• Help maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of building and lot• Stay current with technical changes, continuing your education by factory service schools, etc.• Perform other job-related as assignedRequirements:• High school diploma or equivalent• 2 years of technical training/certification or equivalent industry experience preferred• Obtain and/or maintain a Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL)• Strong computer skills preferred• Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented with demonstrated follow through and organizational skills• Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds• Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing• Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical ISO schematics• Must be able to repair hydrostatic and electrical systems• Must have own tools for most general repairs• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipmentThis posting is for a position with an independent, authorized Vermeer dealer.
