Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy School Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift) in Aurora, Illinois
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, minor construction, assisting with HVAC systems, and snow removal across the campus. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Facilities Operations Manager.
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: This position is a full time non-exempt position and is second shift. Hours worked: 2:30pm - 11:00pm with a 30 minute break for lunch. Days are Sunday through Thursday.

Daily work order request response
Perform preventive maintenance for systems across the Academy
Emergency repairs
General Academy owned equipment maintenance and repair
Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry projects & repair
Boiler/ hot water heater operation and repair
Assist with air handling unit maintenance and repair
Assist with roof top air conditioner and packaged terminal air conditioner units maintenance and repair
Building automation system monitoring and manipulation
Swimming pool operation
Assist Grounds with snow removal
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience in the trades, building maintenance, or technical school
Previous work experience in non-journeyman level work including but not limited to: high voltage electricity, carpentry, plumbing, and/or HVAC
Knowledge of:
Hand, power, and diagnostic tools
Electrical problem diagnostic processes
Hydronic systems
Motor and pump repair or replacement
Ability to communicate with IMSA Community in following through with work orders and emergency repairs
Ability to communicate with contractors to assure service work is done in a timely and professional manner
Ability to adapt to a work environment that requires learning and acquisition of skills to successfully fulfill the responsibilities and duties of maintenance mechanic
Ability to work independently and initiate tasks and projects
Ability to use a computer
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Operates standard maintenance equipment
Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information
Provides timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines
Responds to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues
Reads and comprehends safety related information and general instructions in equipment use
Works occasional irregular schedules, including: day, evening and/or weekend hours
Performs work outside and in extreme temperatures
Works at significant heights on ladders and aerial lifts
Regular bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs/ladders
Lifts and carries equipment and supplies as related to performance responsibilities up to 75 lbs
Required to wear hard soled work shoes and provided uniform
COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, employment-at-will position. Salary no less than $22.22/hr. IMSA offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including health and retirement benefits.
