Job Title: Quality and EHS Manager Dept: Quality/EHS

Reports To: Plant Manager Status: Exempt

General Summary:

Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS). Manages QMS training, continuous improvement, and system audits. Establish & maintain system to control and approve internal work instructions and procedures. Provides support for the operations manufacturing functions. Serves as the Management Representative as required by ISO-9001 , ISO 14000, OSHAS 19000 and all third party certifications. Responsible for auditing and approval of subcontractors. Functions as the Safety Program Coordinator responsible for establishing the company safety rules and standards, the day-to-day operation of the safety program and coordinating safety and loss control activities, in conjunction with the Grundfos EHS team.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and maintain the QMS to comply with customer, ISO, and GPS standards and lead efforts to exceed expectations.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the quality department personnel.

  • Monitor and control quality systems to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and compliance.

  • Responsible for maintaining and continuous improvement of the Quality Manual, and controlling and approving internal work instructions and procedures.

  • Support purchasing in supplier performance measurement.

  • Interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues.

  • Support manufacturing & engineering problem solving of in-process & vendor related quality issues.

  • Oversee development and implementation of corrective action measures.

  • Monitor existing business practices to ensure compliance with policies and procedures (ISO compliance, OSHA compliance and Environmental compliance).

  • Participate in conducting both internal and vendor audits; including 2nd & 3rd party quality system audits.

  • Oversee and direct activities of quality department staff in support and maintenance of quality systems.

  • Maintain quality, EHS operating budgets.


  • Assures company compliance with the OSHA, EPA & GPS Safety Standards and Regulations.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all health & safety policies, procedures and practices are reviewed on an annual basis, or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation, and are rolled-out in a timely manner.

  • Conducts frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and have the skills, knowledge and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.

  • Reviews all safety areas to review policies, determine causes, identify corrective actions and conducts training in safety areas.

  • Investigates all safety related incidents, reviews incident reports and completes necessary reports for insurance carrier, risk management system and corporate safety office.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum 5-7 years in a lead role in quality & safety management in a manufacturing environment.

  • ISO-9001 , ISO 14000, OSHAS 19000 and all third party certifications

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods) and environmental regulations (EPCRA, CAA, CWA, and SARAIII) with an ability to interpret and explain in a manner which is easily understood and applicable for operations personnel.

  • Knowledgeable about best practice safety and environmental approaches.

  • Experience with Gauge R&R, FEMA, QS/TS, SPC, PPAP and Six Sigma preferred.

Physical and

Environmental: Some travel is required (less than 20%). Must be able to obtain an international

travel passport.
