Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality and safety of electrical products used by people throughout the world. *Role & Responsibilities*Training for this role will be provided during 1st shift, thereafter, this role will be primarily scheduled for 2nd shift (4pm-1am) and entitled to shift premium accordingly.This position is responsible for providing technical support for engineering staff, including performing duties related to testing. This position works under direct supervision.This position is within life safety and security team which perform testing and evaluation on a variety of life safety and security products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other International product safety standards (including but not limited to UL 217, UL 2034, UL 2075, UL 1484, ULC S531, CSA 6.19)This is a hands-on lab technician position with a potential career path to be an associate engineer in the future. Setting up test apparatusOperating equipmentMaintaining equipment and facilitiesPreparing test samplesObtaining and recording test data in accordance with standardsPerforming basic analysis of test data and routine calculationsMay draft technical reports May extract and compile engineering dataMay prepare project files for compliance with operating proceduresMay make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation and applicability of test standardsMay communicate with clients and management*Requirements*High school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years directly related engineering experience is required, or; Certificate or Associate's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Technology or related program, is highly preferred and 1+ year of directly related engineering experience is required Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and OutlookExperience in testing of Life Safety and Security products including smoke & CO alarms, fire and burglar alarm panels is desired.Demonstrated experience with standard UL 217, UL 2034, UL 2075, UL 1484, ULC S531, CSA 6.19,UL 985, UL 1023 is a huge plus.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand toolsAbility to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective mannerAbility to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructionsAbility to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables Ability to work ina fast-paced, multi-tasking environmentStrong interpersonal skillsStrong communication skills, in both verbal and written formatsMicrosoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
