Our location in Abbott Park, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist - Logistics.

The Senior Specialist will lead procurement activities for the stakeholders to bring best value for Abbott Laboratories. This position will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity

  • Execute against the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers and develop the Regional Strategy for the category focusing on Surface Transportation and Warehousing.

  • Work intimately with customers, divisions and the Category managers driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model.

  • Deliver value in the Logistics space and ensure satisfaction to division supply chain leads and other internal stakeholders by:

  • Researching and evaluating products and suppliers

  • Developing bids and proposal formats

  • Executing RFPs

  • Performing value analysis on costs and supplier quotes

  • Supporting invoice error resolution

  • Enabling supplier integration and the scoring and delivery of KPI's by suppliers.

  • Developing category roadmap to drive value and lead/deliver savings outcomes

  • Ensure all Abbott procurement policies and procedures are aligned with internal stakeholders e.g. Legal, Risk Management, Division SC etc.

  • Support the commitment of company funds for associated services

  • Lead the development of contracts, statement of works and standard operating procedures for the North America region aligning with Procurement policies and division requirements. Requires understanding of operations to assure that providers needs can met expectations.

  • Facilitates discussion and compromise development between key stakeholders including procurement, division supply chain and providers.

  • Considered an SME across categories.

  • First line responder; pivots between strategy and operations.

  • Analyze complex problems to deliver solutions. Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and tech tools development

  • Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide appropriate supporting documentation for purchases.

  • Seek, develop and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers

  • Understand and apply cultural awareness with foreign business entities

  • Communicate regularly to foster strong effective business relationships with suppliers, clients and customers.

  • Drive innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels by identifying creative solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees.

  • 4-6 years of Logistics Procurement and/or relevant Operations experience

Preferred

  • CPM certification desired but not required. Master’s degree a plus.

  • Parcel and warehousing experience ideal.

  • Mastery of excel including proficiency in excel macros. Complex excel analysis required.

  • Proficient communication skills; verbal and written for recommendations and presentations

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong initiative, work ethic and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
